We are currently recruiting for an experienced Foreman/Workshop Manager to join our team and head up our Kelso workshop.
As Foreman/Workshop Manager, you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs, and services on our customer’s machines to a high standard, working with well-equipped workshops/on-farm. This is a fantastic chance to use your engineering skills and work with industry-leading brands, including Fendt and Valtra, in this varied role within Ancroft Tractors Ltd.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate drive and ambition and have excellent communication skills at all levels along with the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In conformance with the manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use:
- Repairing and maintaining machines on customer’s sites (mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic)
- Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depots
- Knowledge of electrics/electronics
- Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the Parts departments
- Working closely with the Service supervisor
- Accurately completing all relevant paperwork for you and your team daily
- Following health & safety procedures
- Running a company vehicle
REQUIREMENTS
Relevant experience and qualifications in Agricultural Plant or Land Based Engineering (in plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
- Apprentice Trained or Time Served
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Good computer skills
- Ability to work extended hours – both seasonal and weekends
- Full UK driving licence

Our Sales team plays a key role in facilitating our business by promoting Ancroft Tractor's services and products and building outstanding customer relationships. We are currently recruiting for an additional Area Sales Manager covering the North Northumberland & Borders area.
We seek candidates with the ability, skills, and desire to develop a career in a commercial sales role. We are looking for people with a strong interest or experience in the agricultural sector; a background in agricultural sales would be an advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote, manage, and develop Ancroft Tractor's business, products, and services within an assigned sales area and achieve agreed targets
- Sustain and develop business relationships with existing and potential customers to facilitate the growth and development of the business
- Develop and support the customer in line with the Ancroft Tractors values
- Use business information and technical knowledge to maximise the potential of each customer
- Sell machinery and services to farmer customers and develop new sales opportunities
- Agree on finance packages within guidelines agreed upon by the Manager
- Gather feedback on any market or competitor information to the Manager
- Keep up to date with competitor activity and information and report as appropriate
- Running a company vehicle
REQUIREMENTS

APPRENTICE AGRICULTURAL TECHNICIAN, BERWICK

APPRENTICE AGRICULTURAL TECHNICIAN
With the emphasis firmly on farming machinery, you will develop skills and proficiency in a wide range of technical areas, from routine maintenance and servicing to complex component overhauls utilising the very latest diagnostic equipment. Engineering is a practical subject and requires a great deal of focus and thought.
Duties will include:
- Performing basic service tasks & developing skills in the removal and reconditioning of components
- Progressing to perform more complex service & repair tasks, both at the dealership and out in the field
- Assisting qualified Technicians as needed
- Reporting weekly to a mentor or Service Manager regarding ongoing activities and progression
- Maintaining the condition of inventory, tools and equipment
- Maintaining a clean work area and performing tasks in a professional manner.
- Participating in Service Training programmes required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Following all safety rules and regulations
- You will learn to use the very latest equipment, working at the cutting edge of technology to gain the important skills required in a fast-developing, high-tech industry
Your apprenticeship will last approximately 3 years
Like all apprenticeships, your programme will combine paid employment with training, leading to a nationally recognised and valued qualification. You will work at Ancroft Tractors Ltd and will also spend time at the Agco Apprentice Training Centre.
You are supported by a designated Assessor and by your employer, gaining valuable workplace skills by undertaking practical tasks and experiencing real-life challenges. You will be provided with an individually tailored learning plan, with progress monitored by your Assessor who will make regular visits for on-the-job assessment and guidance.
